Piglets Shake Up Coaching Staff
Pat Renaud steps down as Quebec Manager

Piglets Manager and GM Pat Renaud is stepping down from his post as Manager, and has already named a replacement.

Former San Diego television personality Brian Fantana has been named the new QC Manager. He will be formally introduced at a press conference this afternoon. Fantana is also expected to make a few shake ups to the coaching staff as well. Word has it that Fantana has promised the role of Bench coach to James Westfall, and the position of team doctor will now be filled by Dr. Kenneth Noisewater. Rumors are also circulating that Champ Kind may be in line for the role of pitching coach.

When asked for his reasoning for stepping down, Renaud explained that he needs to focus on rebuilding this once-proud franchise that has fallen behind some of the other heavyweights in the league. Renaud released the following statement:

"As many of you may have heard, I am indeed stepping down from my role as Manager of the Quebec City Piglets. I will, however, retain my role as General Manager."

"I have appointed Brian Fantana to be the QC's new manager. The reason for my departure is that we, as an organization, need to take a step back. We were once a perennial favorite to win this league, and that never panned out for us. And now we find ourselves in something of a predicament...we're not good enough to win the title as presently constructed, but we're not so bad that we can justify blowing up the whole team and starting from scratch. We're looking to keep our heads above water for the next year or two and make a run in 2007 or 2008. There are some good teams in this league right now. The bottom line is that I need to focus on being an executive and not on managing the day to day on-field matters. I've got a larger responsibility at hand, and that is making this club the best it can be."

Brian Fantana "Brian Fantana will be the perfect man to fine tune the wholesale changes we make going forward. He has my complete vote of confidence and will be the man to guide us through this exciting period of change. Brian has already begun work on constructing a solid support staff, and we're looking forward to a new era in The QC."

When reached for comment, Fantana sounded very optimistic about the future in The QC.

"As you know, I've been involved in some serious, serious reports. Panda Watch, of course. The brutal rape and murder of the San Diego Chicken in the early 80's...but this gives me an opportunity to unleash the whole gang on the lovely ladies of the OC."

When Fantana was informed that he would actually be managing a baseball team located in Canada who has simply re-jiggered their marketing to piggyback on the popularity of the hit Fox show, he sounded a bit surprised.

"What? What the hell are you talking about? You mean Mischa Barton isn't going to be there? Oh, what the hell?! Goddamnit! I had all kinds of plans for these ladies to play with the Octagon...shit. Well...whatever. I'm sure the ladies of Canada are just itching to get themselves a taste of Fantana!"

We're all looking forward to big things in 2006 from the QC.
