Hail to the Chief Rakeville Looks for that extra boost By Aviator McShadeless / Rakeville Times For years Jack Reed has captained Rakeville sports, but now it looks like he will be getting help as the Rockets close in on a deal with Theo Epstein. The former MLB general manager who led the Red Sox to a championship in 2005 is looking to take the Rockets vacant assistant general manager position. Some might say it is a step back for him, but Epstein understands the opportunity. I will get to learn from one of the best, he said. Reed has proven he can run a franchise. The weight of an entire city has been on his shoulders, and he didnt flinch like I did. Reed was adamant about signing a veteran GM to serve as his understudy, said a team official. With the mission of rebuilding Rakevilles football team to compete next season, Reed wanted some who was solely focused on the baseball program and could handle team affairs. Theo is someone who can make deals, said Reed. He is very knowledgeable. His ability to find under-performing major league players combined with our excellent minor league program could make the Rockets a threat for some time. While the contract sum has yet to be released, a friend close to Theo said it is substantially less then he demanded from the Red Sox for a chance to work with Reed. Fuck Theo, said Nomar. Aviator McShadelss writes for the Rakeville Times, but over the past month has been swimming in Saddam Hussein's pool. |
