TK answers the tough questions, and throws away the stupid ones
By Tim Kitchen / Editor, Baseball Tri-Weekly

Hey Guys,
I had high hopes for the Swingers this season, but they suck. Any hope they will be back in contention next year?

Donny K., Haverhill

They will be back, Donny. The Swingers have been crippled by injuries. With Bonds and Guerrero at full strength next year, along with their stellar pitching staff, they will be in the running for a playoff spot.

I bought season tickets for the Green Monsters, but they haven’t won a god damn game here. What is the deal? Should they go back to wherever they came from?

Erica M., Durham, NC

An 0-5 record at home is unheard of Erica, but it has little to do with the stadium. The reason behind the losing streak is most certainly the curse of Alexis Rios. I am not sure how to fix it, but I heard turkey blood is needed in large quantities.

I live in Weymouth, but I am a Doggs fan. I just can’t stand the team name here and wish they would change it. Any chance I’ll get my wish?

Cuban R., Weymouth

Good luck. I contacted the Weymouth front office about their team name. When I asked if they may switch, they just kept repeating it to me… Shaddy poo… Shaddy poo. Confused, I continued asking until they became very irritated. Soon they were yelling the team name. The verdict is, no. You’re stuck on an island with the poo.

I’m a big Bells fan, and I see them being a force in the second half. My queston is, if they are going to focus on middle relief, why don’t they grab Justin Duchscherer? The kid seems great.

Tucker S., Concord, NH

Excellent question Tucker. Clearly, the Bells have been frightened off by Duchscherer’s potential. When Huston Street was injured, the kid earned four saves in five appearances, posting a sub-2 ERA. Another injury, or possible trade, would allow Duchscherer to retake the closer spot and bring unavoidable saves. Being out of it this season, Plymouth can’t waste valuable roster spots on players who won’t be middle relief next year.

Who has the Best middle infield in the EHCC? I am a big fan of the Doggs’ duo, but I wanted your opinion.

Shandra W., Boulder City, NV

Tejada is good, and with the callup of Weeks, Las Vegas is up there, but they aren’t my top choice. Golden’s turners, Brian Roberts and Michael Young, are a great combination. Both are sound offensively and defensively, and have great chemistry even though Roberts has only been there a short time. Another good pair is in Tokyo, with Marcus Giles and Khalil Greene spinning double plays.
